Delta, American, Hawaiian get new routes to Tokyo airport

The Transportation Department says Delta Air Lines, and American and Hawaiian airlines will get four new routes to Haneda airport in Tokyo. The airport has been off-limits to U.S. airlines since 1978. Currently, U.S. airlines fly to Narita airport, which is farther from the center of Tokyo and less attractive for business travelers. The decision gives Hawaiian Airlines one route from Honolulu. Delta gets routes from Los Angeles and Detroit. American can add service from Kennedy Airport.

$99G oil share mistake trips NYSE circuit breaker

Trading in shares of Texas-based Anadarko Petroleum Corp. was suspended briefly Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange after an erroneous trade triggered new individual-stock circuit breaker rules. NYSE Euronext spokesman Ray Pellecchia said trading of Anadarko was halted between 10:56 a.m. and 11:01 a.m. local time after an erroneous trade valued Anadarko's shares at $99,999.99. It's the third time the NYSE has suspended trading of a single stock after May's so-called "flash crash." Shares of Anadarko closed up 57 cents at $38.64.

Melville-based Hain Celestial acquires 3 Greek Gods

The Hain Celestial Group Inc., a leading natural and organic products company based in Melville, Tuesday announced the acquisition of the assets and business of 3 Greek Gods Llc of Mountlake Terrace, Wash., including its Greek Gods brand of all-natural, Greek-style yogurt, which is sold in natural foods and grocery retailers. Greek Gods yogurt generated sales of more than $10 million in 2009. The company's founders will join Hain Celestial as general managers. Terms of the acquisition, which closed Friday, were not disclosed.

BP won't issue new shares to pay for Gulf oil spill

BP Plc says it has no plans to issue new shares to help pay for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, giving its shares a further boost amid rumors of interest from sovereign wealth funds. BP spokesman Mark Salt said Tuesday that BP "is always happy to welcome new shareholders or existing shareholders who wish to increase their shareholdings, but there's no current plans to issue new equity to anyone."

Bebe to discontinue PH8 unit close or convert 48 stores

Bebe Stores Inc. plans to discontinue operations of its PH8 division less than a year after announcing the retail concept would replace its Bebe Sport stores. The women's clothing chain has 48 PH8 stores, and they will either be closed or converted to the 2b bebe concept, featuring contemporary fashion. In a separate announcement, Bebe said its board has declared a one-time cash dividend of $1 per share, which it will pay July 30 to shareholders of record on July 21.

Toyota tried Lexus fix in 2008, held off on recall

Toyota knew two years ago about the engine problem behind its latest Lexus recall, even changing the spring part to correct it, but did not think a recall was warranted until recently, a company official said Tuesday. Toyota Motor Corp. started Monday a global recall over engine defects in its Lexus luxury models sold around the world, as well as the Crown sold in Japan, moving to repair some 270,000 vehicles to replace valve springs in the engine that could cause vehicles to stall.
