Business leader's start on LIE
In an open letter to President Obama published Friday in The Wall Street Journal, eminent Long Island businessman (and staunch Republican) Ken Langone of Sands Point discloses a surprising item from his resume.
“My first job was as a day laborer on the construction of the Long Island Expressway more than 50 years ago,” Langone wrote. He gave no further details on that job in his Journal letter.
Lagone was born in Roslyn Heights, was a co-founder of Home Depot and once tried to buy the New York Stock Exchange.
The main point of Langone’s letter to the President focuses on what he says is Obama’s anti-business attitude, displayed in when Obama answered a Langone question on Sept. 20 in Washington, D.C.
“My question to you was why, during a time when investment and dynamism are so critical to our country, was it necessary to vilify the very people who deliver that growth?”
Langone said he was disappointed in what he saw as a “patronizing” answer from Obama.
