Thomas B. Lally, Eric Schmidt and John Bilello

Thomas B. Lally, left, has joined the board of trustees of Briarcliffe College in Bethpage. Before retiring, the Smithtown resident was president of Heller Equity Capital Corp. in Chicago.

Eric Schmidt, center, has been elected commander of the U.S. Power Squadron District 3 (Long Island). The Franklin Square resident is an electrical contractor. Born in Brooklyn, by 16 he was working as a commercial longline fisherman for his family’s fishing fleet in Norway.

John Bilello has joined the board of PULSE of NY, a nonprofit community-based patient safety organization that provides education on inpatient safety and trains patient-safety advocates. The Bellmore resident is a pharmacist at Waldbaum’s in East Setauket.
