KEY EVENT: A busy week sees a Federal Reserve meeting, an update on motor vehicle sales and a first look at the 2019 national employment situation.
MONDAY: Earnings from Bridgehampton bank company Bridge Bancorp, Caterpillar and Whirlpool.
TUESDAY: S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller home prices for November. In the previous report, New York metropolitan home prices hit an 11-year high in October. Earnings: Apple, eBay, Harley-Davidson, Lockheed Martin, Verizon.
WEDNESDAY: The Federal Reserve ends a two-day meeting with a statement on the economy and a decision on interest rates. After the meeting, Fed chairman Jerome Powell holds a news conference. Also, private-sector jobs added in January as estimated by payroll provider ADP. And December pending home sales from the National Association of Realtors. Earnings: AT&T, Boeing, Facebook, McDonald’s, Microsoft.
THURSDAY: Jobless benefits claims for the week ended Jan. 26 from the Labor Department. Earnings: Carle Place gift seller 1-800 Flowers.com, Uniondale bank company Flushing Financial, New Hyde Park shopping centers owner Kimco Realty, Amazon, Mastercard, Northrop Grumman.
FRIDAY: The Labor Department releases jobs added and the unemployment rate in January. Also, automakers release January car and truck sales. Earnings: Exxon Mobil, Merck, Roosevelt Field mall owner Simon Property Group.
