KEY EVENT: The Labor Department releases jobs created and the unemployment rate in October. In September, U.S. employers created only 194,000 news jobs, far below expectations, as supply chain shortages and the COVID-19 delta variant took their toll on hiring.
MONDAY: An update on U.S. manufacturing activity in October from the Institute for Supply Management. Earnings: Roosevelt Field mall owner Simon Property Group,
TUESDAY: Automakers post October car and truck sales. Earnings: Port Washington industrial products distributor Global Industrial, Melville health products distributor Henry Schein, Plainview semiconductor tools maker Veeco Instruments, Outback owner Bloomin’ Brands, Estee Lauder, Pfizer, Ralph Lauren.
WEDNESDAY: The Federal Reserve ends a two-day meeting with statements on the economy and interest rates policy. Also, an estimate of private-sector jobs created in October from payrolls processor ADP. And the Institute for Supply Management releases the October services-sector report. Earnings: Lake Success investor documents provider Broadridge Financial Solutions, CVS Health, MetLife.
THURSDAY: Jobless benefits claims for the week ended Oct. 30 from the Labor Department. Earnings: Hauppauge diagnostics test maker Chembio, cable TV provider Altice USA, IHOP owner Dine Brands, Shake Shack, Uber.
FRIDAY: Earnings from Jericho shopping centers owner Kimco Realty.
