Businessmen with new board spots

Frank Catalano, left, has been elected chairman of the executive board of the Long Island chapter of ASIS International, a security industry trade association. The Wantagh resident is director of security for the New York Institute of Technology.
John Murcott, right, has joined the board of directors at Education & Assistance Corporation (EAC), a Hempstead-based social service, not-for-profit agency that provides educational, vocational and counseling services, mediation, and rehabilitation for nonviolent offenders and support to children, families and senior citizens. The Port Washington resident is president and co-founder of Karma 411 and co-founder of General Sentiment.
Meanwhile, New Hyde Park native Spencer Horowitz was recently appointed to the San Jose (Calif.) Airport Commission. Horowitz is a Herricks High School graduate and a 1981 graduate of the Academy of Aeronautics, now Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology, in Queens. Horowitz, who now lives in the Silicon Valley area of California, is one of seven commission members providing management oversight and policy recommendations to the airport. He is a corporate development specialist who runs his own business communications firm.
