By-the-number look at Friday airline cancellations
AIRTRAN AIRWAYS:
The unit of AirTran Holdings Inc., based in Orlando, Fla., canceled 89 flights.
AMERICAN AIRLINES:
The unit of AMR Corp., based in Fort Worth, Texas, and its American Eagle affiliate canceled about 500 flights, including 240 departures at its hub at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
DELTA AIR LINES:
The Atlanta company and its feeder partners canceled 1,100 flights.
JETBLUE AIRWAYS:
The airline, based in New York, didn't cancel any flights on Friday, but did cancel all flights out of the New York metro area, Richmond, Va., Washington and Baltimore on Wednesday for a total of 387 flights canceled that day. It canceled an additional 105 flights on Thursday.
SOUTHWEST AIRLINES:
The airline, based in Dallas, had about 100 cancellations.
UNITED AIRLINES:
The unit of UAL Corp., based in Chicago, canceled 40 flights.
US AIRWAYS:
The Tempe, Ariz., company had 61 cancellations.
