Cablevision profits rise to $112.1M for 3Q

Net income: Third-quarter profit of $112.1 million, compared with profit of $98.9 million in the same quarter last year.
Net revenue: $1.8 billion, compared with $1.71 billion in the year-ago quarter.
share price: Up 72 cents to $28.36 yesterday.
Company statement: "Cablevision continued to perform well in the third quarter as the ongoing strength of our core businesses led to solid increases in both revenue and AOCF," or adjusted operating cash flow, James Dolan, chief executive, said. "The company's cable operations generated a significant increase in advertising revenue of 30 percent, while continuing to enjoy industry-leading penetration rates."
Newsday saw its third-quarter net revenues decrease 4.3 percent to $76.5 million. That decline was primarily driven by a 7.6 percent decrease in advertising revenue, the company said.
