Canon in alliance with FedEx Office for 12,000 printers

Canon U.S.A., Inc. in Lake Success has forged an alliance with FedEx Office (formerly FedEx Kinko’s) and HP to boost FedEx Office’s services, installing more than 12,000 new Canon and HP printing devices in more than 1,800 locations, the companies said yesterday.

Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE machines (that's one above) and imagePRESS digital press systems will be among the new devices deployed beginning next month. Canon’s products will be part of FedEx Office’s company-wide network that will offer customers more printing options such as printing remotely, printing from portable devices such as thumb drives or smartphones and also cloud printing, the company said. Cloud printing is a service that will allow customers to store documents and access them from anywhere there’s a network connection – in this case, any FedEx Office location.

So customers walking into a FedEx Office retail location eventually will find a more uniform experience throughout the chain and be able to take advantage of more applications in the self-service area, said Dennis Amorosano, senior director of solutions, marketing and business support at Canon U.S.A.

“All the devices will be networked and open up for FedEx office to deliver a much deeper set of services in the self-serve area than what they offer traditionally,” Amorosano said.
