Canon U.S.A. Inc., of Lake Success, this week sent out a public notice congratulating the cast and crew – and especially the cinematographers -- of “House”, the FOX TV show.

The reason? The show’s entire season finale was filmed on the Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera.

“This crowning achievement marks the first network television prime time drama episode to be shot entirely on a Digital SLR camera, making it an industry-first,” a Canon news release says.

“Canon EF lenses were used for a complete Canon workflow for image capture,” the camera maker said. “Recording every second of footage to compact flash cards, the crew for HOUSE took full advantage of a completely digital workflow and was able to complete filming the entire episode in just 10 days.”

The season finale aired Monday night.  In a scene from that show above, House, (Hugh Laurie, at right) and Foreman (Omar Epps, left) assess the condition of a patient.
