Canon USA imageRUNNER ADVANCE wins EPA Energy Star award

Lake Success-based Canon U.S.A. says it has won the 2011 Energy Star award for Excellence in Energy Efficient Product Design.

The award was for the company’s imageRunner Advance line of products, which use only about one-third the power of previous models.

The awards are given by two federal agencies, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.

The awards “honor organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through energy efficiency,” the EPA says. The awards will be presented in Washington, D.C., next week.

Canon U.S.A. said this is the 12th time it has won an Energy Star award.

Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A., said the award arose from Canon’s corporate philosophy of “Kyosei—'all people, regardless of race, religion, or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future’.”

Canon’s focus on the environment extends across its product line as the company aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions across the entire lifecycle of every product, the company said.
