Lake Success-based Canon U.S.A. said Friday that one of its divisions, the photocopier and imaging maker Océ North America, has a new top officer.

Effective Jan. 1, Patrick Chapuis signs on as president and chief executive of the Trumbull, Conn., digital document management company.

Canon bought Océ in 2009 with the aim of creating “the overall No. 1 presence in the printing industry,” the company said in a statement.

Chapuis succeeds Joseph Skrzypczak, who is retiring.

Chapuis will keep his current responsibilities as president of the wide-format printing systems division of Océ North America.

Océ said in a separate announcement on its website that Chapuis previously managed the wide-format business of Océ France. Before that, he managed sales and operations in France, Belgium and Holland for Kodak Office Imaging.

In early Friday trading Canon Inc. American Depositary, trading as CAJ on the New York Stock Exchange, was down $0.04 to $43.49, on the low end of its 52-week range of $41.70 to $52.30 per share.
