Canon U.S.A. Inc., of Lake Success, has a list of suggestions for those who hope to inspire children to become more environmentally aware.

The tips are "for parents to foster the spirit of environmentalism in the next generation, and empower children to be stewards of their environmental legacy," Canon said in a Monday news release.

"Canon’s green tips... place an emphasis on enjoying nature together as a family, an activity that everyone can partake in this summer, and throughout the year."

Joe Adachi, president and chief executive of Canon U.S.A., said, “For decades, Canon has been committed to maintaining a sustainable environment and creating a better world for generations to come."

Canon sponsors Envirothon, a worldwide competition for young people now underway at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, Canada.
