Carpenters union takes applicants for cabinetmaker apprenticeships
The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the carpenters union will begin taking applications Monday for five cabinetmaker apprenticeships, officials said.
Applications can be obtained at the Carpenters Training Center, 270 Motor Pkwy., Department B, in Hauppauge, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, excluding holidays, until Jan. 24, 2020.
Applications must be picked up and submitted in person. Applicants must bring a valid driver's license or other state-issued ID card.
Applicants must be 18 or older, have a high school diploma or its equivalent, have lived on Long Island for at least six months before applying, be physically able to do the work, have reliable transportation, submit to an interview and be willing to attending training sessions in New Jersey. They also must take math, measurement computation and drug tests.
