The Empire State Carpenters Apprenticeship Committee for Long Island will begin taking applications Thursday for five carpenter apprenticeships, officials said.

Applications can be obtained at the Carpenters Training Center, 270 Motor Parkway, Department B, in Hauppauge, from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, excluding legal holidays. The recruitment period ends June 20, 2016.

Applicants should be 18 or older, live on Long Island, provide proof of completion of high school or GED courses, have a state-issued ID card and Social Security card, be physically able to do the work and pass math and drug tests.
