If you ordered food delivered through Chick-fil-A’s website or One App during an 18-month period between 2019 and 2021, you may be entitled to a lawsuit settlement award of up to $29.25. The deadline to file for compensation is Feb. 15.

The popular fast-food chain has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit that alleged the company “made false or misleading representations regarding its delivery fees and menu prices for its delivery orders,” according to the settlement website.

Eligible for an award of a cash settlement or gift card with a $29.25 maximum are customers who placed orders between Nov. 1, 2019, and April 30, 2021, through the Chick-fil-A website or One App to a Chick-fil-A location in New York, New Jersey, California, Florida or Georgia.

According to the court filing, Chick-fil-A began promising customers free or low-cost delivery on orders placed on its website or through its mobile app. The lawsuit alleges, however, that the company added “hidden delivery charges” on these orders, resulting in food prices that were much higher than what a customer would pay when ordering inside or picking up from a Chick-fil-A store.

The lawsuit said the markups were as much as 25%-30%. “In other words, the identical order of a 30-count chicken nuggets costs approximately $5-$6 more when ordered for delivery than when ordered via the same mobile app for pickup, or when ordered in-store,” the lawsuit said.

But with the $4.4 million settlement, Chick-fil-A admitted to no wrongdoing. A Chick-fil-A spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment.
