Chyron's on-air graphics now on BSkyB

Sky Sports News, a program of Britain's top TV network BSkyB, has adopted a cloud-based broadcast graphics system made by a Melville company, Chyron.

"Chyron today announced that Sky Sports News is the first broadcaster in Europe to implement the company's Axis World Graphics cloud-based content creation platform," Chyron said in a Sunday news release. Cloud computing refers to software provided, as needed, over the Internet.

A Sky Sports executive said he saw a "distinct and welcome change" in the appearance of the channel's broadcast after it began using Chyron's system.

"We decided to work with Chyron because we felt the company's product was the best suited to a news operation working with a high volume of data," Darren Long, director of operations at Sky Sports News, said in the Chyron statement.

"Our operators have found Chyron systems to be very user-friendly, and features such as integrated order management have made it very easy for our staff to order graphics from the desktop, view the graphics, and request or make any necessary changes."

Chyron is a broadcast graphics industry leader, offering on-air graphics, video clip systems, channel brand development, and graphics management.

The company issued its news release from Amsterdam, where it is exibiting its products at the International Broadcasting Convention.
