Many thought it a prank last year on April 1 when Dunkin' gave away a million cups of coffee, or so the company says.
It wasn't.
So on Wednesday, the coffee chain is doubling down, offering an April Fools’ Day promotion designed to give away 1,000,001 cups of free coffee.
The extra one, according to the company's website, "is for anyone still not convinced."
The free coffee comes with this caveat: Patrons must use their Dunkin' app and they must be Dunkin' Rewards members. If you fit the criteria, the promo code "StillNotAJoke" will get you that coffee.
The promo code is only valid Wednesday. A free coffee certificate is valid for seven days after entering the promo code.
Dunkin' said its cold brew and extra large hot coffee are not included.
Dunkin', founded in 1950 and based in Canton, Massachusetts, is the largest coffee and doughnut brand in the United States, with more than 14,000 restaurants, according the company's website. There are dozens on Long Island.
