3 companies seek union apprentices for Bay Park project

Three local construction companies are seeking low-income individuals who are interested in becoming union apprentices through fall 2018.
R.J. Industries Inc., Peter Scalamandre & Sons Corp. and Bana Electric Corp. have formed a tri-venture, BSRJ, to construct a new main substation and electrical distribution system at the Bay Park Sewage Treatment Plant in East Rockaway, which was severely damaged by superstorm Sandy in October 2012.
BSRJ is looking for people who want to be union apprentices and work on the project.
The apprenticeships are with unions representing electricians, carpenters, plumbers, HVAC technicians, ironworkers, glazers, operating engineers and laborers.
BSRJ will connect potential candidates with participating unions. To be eligible, an individual must have had 2015 income of $61,050 or less, or, for a family of two, $69,800 or less.
