Comtech Telecommunications Corp., the Melville defense electronics contractor, this week said it has received $51.7 million in U.S. Army orders for a battlefield command and friend-or-foe satellite system.

The contracts involve Comtech's Blue Force Tracking system, which is produced by a company subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corp. of Maryland.

Comtech's system includes satellite network operations, engineering services, program management, support and mobile satellite transceivers.

Before the most recent batch of orders, Comtech had already gotten $339.3 million in Blue Force Tracking contracts. The latest contracts were announced Sunday.
