Melville-based Comtech Telecommunications Corp. says one of its subsidiaries in Arizona has a new, $2.4 million batch of U.S. government orders for satellite modems.
The subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., of Tempe, Ariz., will provide its SLM-5650A satellite modems and associated redundancy switches to be used "to facilitate satellite-based communications for a government agency."
Comtech didn't say which government agency ordered the modems.
"Given the SLM-5650A's reliability, security and bandwidth efficiencies, it is ideally suited for government and military applications -- shipboard, airborne or ground," Comtech chief executive Fred Kornberg said in a statement Monday.
"This order is representative of the U.S. government's confidence in Comtech to deliver infrastructure products to support essential communications."
