Comtech subsidiary gets $2M order for radar-jammer

A subsidiary of Melville-based defense contractor Comtech Telecommunications Corp.has a new $2 million electronic warfare technology order for a microwave amplifier system. The system is used in military operations for radar-jamming.

Comtech did not provide the customer's name or other identifying information, except to say it is a foreign equipment manufacturer.

It said the equipment to be supplied is "broadband, solid-state, high-power RF microwave amplifier systems."

"The amplifier systems, which include the latest solid-state switching and transistor technology, provide for very broad frequency coverage and will be utilized as part of communications jamming systems," Comtech said.

"This order demonstrates our continued leadership position in providing communications jamming technology and the ongoing need for our high-power broadband amplifiers that are utilized by major electronic warfare application programs in both domestic and international markets,"  Comtech chief executive Fred Kornberg said.

The subsidiary is Comtech PST Corp. (also based in Melville), a supplier of broadband, high-power, high performance radio frequency microwave amplifiers for use in a broad spectrum of applications including defense, medical, satellite communications systems and instrumentation.
