Comtech Telecommunications Corp. has signed an $8.4 million contract with an unnamed telecom equipment manufacturer, the company announced Thursday.

Under the deal signed in the fourth quarter of 2015, the equipment manufacturer will distribute Comtech products to mobile phone networks, including a major North American wireless operator.

In April, Melville-based Comtech announced a similar contract valued at more than $12 million with the same telecom equipment manufacturer.

“We are pleased that our customer has signed an additional multi-year contract and believe this demonstrates their confidence in our wireless service expertise,” Stanton Sloane, Comtech president and chief executive, said in a statement.

Shares of Comtech rose 0.8 percent to $22.98 in mid-morning trading.

Comtech makes communications products for the commercial and government markets.
