Continuing to plead its case against federal funding cuts, Brookhaven National Laboratory is highlighting its partnerships with private companies, “putting intellectual capital to work.”

It lists three such companies in its "Meeting National Needs" report, issued earlier this month. One is on Long Island -- Advanced Energy Systems of Medford, which supplies superconducting accelerator components.

Another, Clear Vascular, with offices in Manhattan, makes an injectable radiopharmaceutical for imaging heart disease.

A third, SuperPower Inc., of Schenectady, makes high-temperature superconducting wire.

Brookhaven Lab licenses its technologies to these and other companies that invest in further development and then bring them to the marketplace, the lab said.

It also has partnerships with major corporations such as General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, and United Technologies.
