Costco makes change to its beverage option for hot dog combo

Attention Costco hot dog combo lovers: The membership warehouse giant is offering a new combo option at the same price.
Instead of a 20-ounce soda, you can now get a 16.9-ounce bottle of Kirkland Signature purified water to pair with the quarter-pound all-beef frank as an option with the long-standing hot dog combo. That's at the same $1.50 price charged at the Costco food court since the 1980s.

Previously, members wanting something other than a soda had to get a cup of water at the food court counter or buy bottled water on the side.
One of the first commitments publicly acknowledged by Costco CEO Ron Vachris when he assumed the new role in January 2024 was that he wouldn't be raising the price of the hot dog combo.
A Staten Island native, Vachris — who began as a forklift driver for Price Club in Phoenix in the 1980s, before Price Club merged with Costco in 1993 — famously said in a promotional video after taking on his new role as CEO: "The hot dog price will not change as long as I'm around." He added after taking a bite of the dog he'd ordered: "Amazing quality, amazing value. That's $1.50 well spent."
