Out-of-work residents on the North Fork won’t have to log as many miles to visit a county One-Stop Employment Center to look for work. Beginning Sept. 27, the Suffolk County Department of Labor will operate a temporary center once a month in Mattituck at the Human Resource Center at 750 Pacific Ave.

As with the other one-stops, the closest are in Hauppauge and Riverhead, the center will offer such things as career counseling, job-search assistance and online training opportunities. It will open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“I applaud Suffolk County Labor Commissioner Robert Dow and Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell for this innovative, collaborative effort that is bringing much-needed One-Stop Career Center services to Long Island’s East End,” said Mark J. Grossman, the state Labor Commissioner’s Long Island regional representative.

For more information call Supervisor Russell’s office at 631-765-1889.
