CPI Aero gets $3.4M Northrop Grumman order

CPI Aerostructures, a Long Island aircraft parts manufacturer, said Thursday that it has received a $3.4 million order from industry giant Northrop Grumman to produce wing panels for a Naval surveillance plane.
The outer wing panel kits will be used to build the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, a twin-turboprop aircraft topped by a distinctive radar dish to detect incoming cruise missiles and help commanders conduct battles. CPI Aero has been producing the kits for Northrop Grumman since June 2008.
The company, which has been in business for nearly 30 years, said its revenue rose nearly 70 percent last year, to $74 million, buoyed largely by subcontracting work for Northrop Grumman, Boeing and Gulfstream.
