Groton-New London Airport in Connecticut is looking into starting a new helicopter shuttle service bringing passengers to and from Long Island, a published report says.

The Norwich Bulletin reported Sunday that airport manager Catherine Young sees room for "a commercial traffic increase that would benefit Eastern Connecticut's tourism industry."

The Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos could be a prime beneficiary of such a new helicopter shuttle service from Long Island. A spokesman for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, owner of Foxwoods, told the newspaper that the tribe would be pleased to see more helicopter flights bringing casino customers from Long Island.
