What will it take to get access to any number of financial experts who can answer questions on topics ranging from credit scores and identity theft to constructing a diversified investment portfolio?
$40 and a trip into Manhattan this Saturday for the Financial Planning Association of New York’s Eighth Annual Financial Fitness Workshop.
The day-long event features:
-- A panel of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine editors, talking on the latest trends;
-- Keynote speech by Russel Kinnel, director of Mutual Fund Research for Morningstar, Inc.
-- Four sets of sessions on topics for those with varying levels of expertise: For beginners there’s “How to Select a Financial Planner.” For those who are more advanced, “Your Retirement Portfolio – Lessons from the Turmoil.”
In just one day “you can be exposed to just about every aspect of the financial planning process,” says Ron Palastro, a financial planner in Bensonhurst, who is co-director of the workshop.
Net proceeds from the event go to Project Renewal, an organization that helps homeless men and women in New York City.
