Development panel meets Wednesday
The Long Island Economic Development Council will hold its first public forum Wednesday night in Melville.
The council is one of 10 statewide established by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to develop five-year plans to grow each region's economy and jobs. Each council is facing a Nov. 14 deadline to submit a strategy to Albany.
The councils will compete for up to $1 billion in state tax credits and grants.
The local group is seeking public input during a forum from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bank of America building, 300 Broadhollow Rd., Melville.
