Former Vice President Dick Cheney will be the guest speaker at the Long Island Association's fall luncheon this year.
The event will be held at noon on Oct. 18 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. LIA president Kevin Law will interview Cheney.
Law said he expects Cheney to discuss a range of topics because of the former vice president's background as secretary of defense to President George H. W. Bush, a congressman and chief executive of Halliburton. Cheney served as vice president to George W. Bush for eight years.
"He's going to have a lot to say on the war on terror ... the economy, and certainly the presidential election," Law said. "I'm sure he's not going to be shy."
The LIA holds two luncheons every year and invites national figures to speak. In February, the organization had New York Jets coach Rex Ryan as a guest speaker.
The fall luncheon typically features more high-profile names. Last fall, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani spoke and announced that he was not seeking the presidential nomination.
Past guest speakers have included former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
