Doctors honored for their work

Martin Fisher, left, of Plainview received the 2010 Adele Dellenbaugh Hoffmann Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics for “excellence in the field of adolescent health.” He is chief of adolescent medicine and medical director of the Eating Disorders Program at the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York in New Hyde Park. He is also past president of both the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine and the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.

Raj Narayan, center,  of Sands Point was honored by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin of Queens and Long Island at its annual gala for “many professional accomplishments over the course of his career.” He’s chairman of neurosurgery at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park and is director of North Shore-LIJ Health System’s Cushing Neuroscience Institutes. Previously he headed the University of Cincinnati’s neurosurgery department.

Gregory Zito, right, of Garden City received the Theodore Roosevelt Award for Outstanding Service from the Friends of Mercy Medical Center for “contributing to the development of Long Island’s community hospitals.” He’s director of surgery for the Rockville Centre-based hospital, which he joined in 1990, and previously served as director of surgical intensive care at the Veterans Affairs medical Center in Northport. He’s a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American Cancer Society.
