Nancy Rauch Douzinas has joined the board of trustees of Teachers College, Columbia University.

She is president of the Rauch Foundation and publisher of the Long Island Index.

Teachers College, in an online bio of its new trustee, said Douzinas “is best known for her pioneering role in sustainable development through her creation of the Long Island Index, a status report on the quality of life on Long Island that has received wide acclaim for being a catalyst for the development of regional awareness and understanding.”

Douzinas, through the Rauch Foundation, “has supported [Teachers College] Professor of Education and Sociology Amy Wells’ research on the impact of school segregation on Long Island,” the college website said. The Teachers College board has 36 trustees.

Douzinas was appointed in July.
