Drugmaker introduces dissolvable nicotine tablet
A sister company of a Westbury-based drugmaker has introduced a dissolvable tablet that delivers nicotine to smokers when they cannot light up.
Ross Myles Health LLC, with headquarters in Miami, is owned by the Singer family, longtime owners of PL Developments in Westbury.
Evan Singer is president of the Florida enterprise.
The new tablet, called Nicofi, is noteworthy for delivering nicotine faster than competing gum or lozenges, said spokeswoman Liz Wiener Neale.
Nicofi dissolves without chewing or swallowing once it is placed under the tongue.
Ross Myles has five products being reviewed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and more than 10 others in development, Neale said.
