EDO Corp. wins $15.2M defense contract modification

EDO Corp. has won a $15.2 million modification of a previously awarded contract to install bomb racks on a maritime warfare aircraft.
The contract calls for Amityville-based EDO to install 17 bomb rack units on P-8A jets, the Defense Department announced.
EDO, which was acquired by White Plains conglomerate ITT Corp. for $1.7 billion in December 2007, will make 11 bomb rack units for the U.S. Navy, four for Australia and two for the United Kingdom.
The work, to be performed in Amityville, is expected to be completed in February 2022, the Defense Department said in a news release Monday.
The P-8A is a modified Boeing 737 whose mission is to combat enemy submarines and surface ships with mines, torpedoes and cruise missiles.
