The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Local 1 of the International Union of Elevator Constructors is taking applications through Dec. 4 for 50 elevator-escalator constructor and modernizer apprenticeships, officials said.

Applications can be obtained at neiep.org/careers.aspx under the apprenticeship section through midnight Dec. 4 or until 1,000 have been completed, whichever comes first.

Applicants are required to take an aptitude test and pay a $25 testing fee. They should be 18 or older, provide proof of completion of high school or GED courses, pass a drug test, be able to physically do the work and have reliable transportation.
