Estee Lauder HQ goes solar
The Estee Lauder cosmetics company has completed installation of a 385-panel solar energy system at its corporate offices in Melville.
The 103-kilowatt system, at the company's automated storage facility, "is part of The Estee Lauder Companies' long-term commitment to reduce its global energy consumption" by using renewable power sources, the company said in a Thursday news release.
The Mercury Solar Systems array is expected to generate more than 120,000 kilowatt-hours a year, enough to supply the needs of about 10 average homes, the company said.
