Jeffrey L. Reynolds, left, was appointed to the Suffolk County Welfare to Work Commission, which evaluates and makes recommendations on federal, state, and county policies and procedures targeted to moving residents from welfare to work. He is the executive director of the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. He is a Smithtown resident.

The Lexington School/Center for the Deaf in Jackson Heights announced two new members of its board of directors. Dr. Maria Torroella Carney, center, is the commissioner of health for the Nassau County Department of Health. The Lattingtown resident is also a clinical assistant professor at Mount Sinai Medical School and the Stony Brook University School of Medicine. Randolph Ghisone, right, is the assistant deputy Nassau County executive for finance and lives in Hicksville.
