The Finishing Trades Institute of New York will begin taking applications Monday for 50 structural-steel-painter and -decorator apprenticeships, officials said.

Applications can be obtained in person at the institute’s office, 45-15 36th St. in Long Island City, Queens, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. They will be available until May 6 or until 500 have been distributed.

Applicants must be 18 or older, provide proof of completion of high school or GED courses, be physically able to do the work, attend a three-day orientation session and be able to read and understand instructions and warnings in English.
