Free advice for some job seekers

Lizandra Vega, a career expert, will be giving tips on how to dress for an interview and signing copies of her new book, "The Image of Success: Make a Great Impression and Land the Job You Want," at Bloomingdale’s in the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City on Friday from noon to 2 p.m.

The book “makes the point that employers’ assumptions about intelligence, ability, sophistication, performance, and even pedigree often are based on the image one projects, according to a representative, and give advice on how to portray oneself as the consummate professional, one who will beat out the competition during a rigorous interview process.”

The event – which will include “informal modeling, mini-makeovers at the Trish McEvoy cosmetics counter, book signing, and an opportunity to win a one-on-one image consultation with the author” – is free and will take place in the store’;s Sutton Career Wear Department.
