Free legal advice offered for Nassau residents
Nassau County residents can get free legal help with foreclosure, health, education, immigration and other issues in Mineola this month.
The Pro Bono FAIR (Free Assistance, Information and Referral) event will take place Oct. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Nassau County Bar Association’s headquarters at 15th and West streets in Mineola. It is sponsored by the county bar association and Nassau/Suffolk Law Services Committee to mark national Pro Bono Week, an American Bar Association program.
Attorneys at the event will offer advice and referrals on bankruptcy and debt, divorce and family issues, education, including special education, health and disabilities, immigration, mortgage foreclosure and other housing matters and senior citizen issues. The attorneys will not offer legal representation.
Required reservations can be made by calling 516-747-4070. Upon registration, participants can request an attorney fluent in Spanish, Russian, Haitian Creole, Korean, Chinese, Hindi or other languages.
