If you want to learn more about the federal Family and Medical Leave Act, tune into a free webinar on June 27 at 2 p.m. The U.S. Department of Labor, which enforces the act, will host the event.

The FMLA provides eligible employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave in a calendar year for the birth and care of a newborn or for personal or family-medical emergencies. When caring for a seriously injured or ill service member, eligible relatives can qualify for up to 26 weeks off.

The law protects workers’ jobs and benefits and applies to public and private employers with at least 50 employees.
