Gillibrand to unveil plan to spur high-tech jobs

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) today will announce a bill she plans to introduce to help scientists develop their research into high-tech products and companies.
The senator will outline her proposed legislation during a news conference at Stony Brook University.
The idea fits into a larger effort by Stony Brook, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and other local research institutions that hope Long Island will become a hub for bioscience companies to boost job growth and fuel the region's economy.
“We need to equip our brightest minds with tools needed to create innovative businesses and jobs,” said Gillibrand, who is running for re-election this year against Manhattan attorney Wendy Long.
It is unclear whether Gillibrand’s bill has Republican support.
