Suffolk County lawmakers this week approved the nomination of Anthony Giordano, an insurance and investments counselor from Smithtown, to serve on the board of directors of the county’s industrial development agency.

The move fills a vacancy caused by the resignation of IDA chairman Paul J. Tonna in August.

Giordano is a former agent for major league baseball players and ran unsuccessfully for the State Assembly in 2004 on the Democrat and Working Families party lines.
