Globecomm Systems Inc. chief executive Keith Hall, who was named to the top job about two years ago, has stepped down, the Hauppauge company announced Thursday.

Current chief financial officer Jason Juranek will serve as interim chief executive during the search for a permanent candidate, said the satellite communications company, which was taken private in a $340 million transaction in December 2013 by Manhattan-based private equity firm Wasserstein & Co.

Hall, then chief operating officer, succeeded founder David Hershberg, who stepped down as chief executive in February 2014.

Juranek said in a statement that he expects no change in the company’s direction: “Our vision and strategy remains unchanged, and we will continue to deliver outstanding solutions to government, industrial and commercial markets worldwide.”

Before joining Globecomm, Juranek served as an executive of a Harris Corp. subsidiary that provides communications to government and oil and gas clients in remote environments.

Wasserstein has acquired and sold stakes in companies with well-known brands, including Maybelline, IMAX and Mastercraft Boat Co.

After leaving Globecomm, Hershberg started satellite communications company STS Global Inc. about a year ago. The company, based at the Stony Brook University Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology incubator, is part of the Start-Up New York program that offers tax breaks to emerging companies.
