Local nonprofits that offer services for the homeless may be eligible to apply for grants up to $10,000 through a new initiative through Apartments.com -- an online rental listing provider.

The Chicago-based company will be offering $100,000 in grants for programming or operational expenses at nonprofits that work to help the homeless population. Grants will total between $500 and $10,000 per group.

Organizations interested can apply at apartments.com/grants. The deadline is Sept. 30.
