Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk is celebrating its 30th anniversary by putting Long Island CEOs to work.
The nonprofit, known for working with volunteers to build homes for low-income families, will host its first “CEO Build” in Bay Shore this April.
“We want this celebration to be different and want to ring our 30th year in, in true Habitat for Humanity style,” said Les Scheinfeld, director of development for Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk.
“The idea is to gather the CEOs of 30 different companies and have them work alongside our staff and construction crew to raise the walls of two homes located on the same street in Bay Shore.”
The CEO Build will also raise funds the organization will use toward the construction of the homes.
CEOs who sign up as “build sponsors” for the event must donate a minimum of $5,000 and commit to a company build day in which 15 employees volunteer to work on the project.
The presenting sponsor, Bank of America, is donating $50,000 and commiting to 10 volunteer build days.
Twenty CEOs have signed up to participate thus far, including Wayne Grosse of Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Rich Humaan of H2M Architects + Engineers, and Keith Banks of Lloyd Staffing, Scheinfeld said.
CEOs interested in participating may contact Scheinfeld at 631-HABITAT, ext. 105.
