Hain Celestial wakes up Sleepytime Bear

The brown bear in a red stocking cap who appears on boxes of Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea will begin hosting weekly Twitter chats, according to his corporate owner, The Hain Celestial Group in Melville.

A month ago, the Sleepytime bear character launched his own Facebook page, which more than 700 people like. He also has more than 150 followers on Twitter.

Beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, the bear will host weekly hour-long Twitter chats, “Tea Time with Sleepytime Bear.”

To join, use the hashtag #CSTeaTime.

The Twitter sessions will “serve as an outlet through which tea drinkers can connect with others, share tips for finding calm and heed the bear’s inspirational wisdom and comforting humor,” said Celestial Seasonings, based in Boulder, Colo., a division of Hain Celestial of Melville.
