KEY EVENT: Worker tax forms due (Tuesday). Deadline for businesses to deliver W-2 statements and 1099 forms for the 2011 tax year.

MONDAY: Personal income and consumer spending for December from the Commerce Department.

TUESDAY: S&P/Case-Shiller housing price index for November. Last month's report showed that metropolitan area home prices have recovered slightly since hitting a seven-year low in March. Earnings: Amazon.com, Exxon Mobil, Visa, United Parcel Service.

WEDNESDAY: ADP employment report on private-sector job growth and job cuts for January. Also, January car and truck sales from automakers, construction spending for December from the Commerce Department, and the Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index for January. Earnings: Northrop Grumman, Melville-based Hain Celestial Group, Brentwood-based Medical Action Industries and Arrow Electronics, which releases its first report since moving its headquarters from Melville to Colorado.

THURSDAY: Weekly applications for unemployment benefits and fourth-quarter productivity, both from the Labor Department. Earnings: Kellogg's, Merck, MasterCard.

FRIDAY: The Labor Department reports national unemployment rate, which has fallen in each of the past three months. Earnings: Roosevelt Field and Smith Haven Mall owner Simon Property Group, Tyson Foods.
