Hauppauge telecom maker to transmit QVC TV shows

Telecommunications maker Globecomm Systems Inc., of Hauppauge, said Friday it has a new deal to deliver QVC television programs to U.S. cable and satellite operators in standard and high-definition signals.

Globecomm will also ensure that QVC buyers aren't interrupted while ordering such necessities as Jacqueline Kennedy Wrap-Style Sunglasses (Featured Price: $44.94) and the Luminara Battery Operated Flameless Candle with Timer (Featured Price $32), a QVC executive said.

"In addition to broadcast delivery services, Globecomm will provide redundant and diverse transport from QVC headquarters in Pennsylvania to the Globecomm New York facility, backup playout services, and a backup fiber and teleport disaster recovery solution," David Caputo, a QVC vice president said.

Globecomm didn't give financial details on the deal.
